Scott Alexander – Lead Vocals & Guitar

Scott Alexander has had a passion for music his entire life. From the time he picked up his first guitar at age five, he knew he would make it his profession. He was dedicated to practicing his craft every chance he had. After high school, Scott received a full scholarship and eventually earned a Masters Degree in music. At that point, he knew he would start a band one day so he could share his talent with the world.

John “Johnny” Kunz – Lead Guitar & Backup Vocals

John “Johnny” Kunz started playing guitar in the 80s in local punk bands when he lived in Southern California. He relocated to Idaho in 2003 and played for local bar bands there like The Bill Fullmer Band, The Kerry Miller Band, and The Dave Conner Band. All of them played a mixture of rock, blues, and country. In 2013, he relocated again, this time to the Portland Metro area, and he played with some of the local bands around Portland.

When Covid-19 hit, all of those bands decided to call it quits. That’s when John took a year off from playing in live performances. Then one day, he happened to see an ad for a local band called Twisted Blue, looking for a guitar player. He said as soon as he met with the group he felt right at home. The band has an amazing chemistry when they play together. According to John, “We have a southern boy, a former 80s hair metal rocker, a super young drummer, and me. What more can you ask for in a band? Twisted Blue Rocks!”

Mathew “Matt” Thom – Bass & Backup Vocals

Mathew “Matt” Thom is currently “58-years young.” He bought his first guitar in 1982 because he always dreamed of being a rock star. It wasn’t long before he realized that his friend was a better guitar player than him, so he traded his guitar for a bass and they started a band. Matt says that they lived like rock stars without the rock star money. Since they all had kids, they had to get “real jobs.” But he never gave up on his dream.

Matt has played bass at blues jams and in local bands like The Noyz, Free Wheel, and Don’t Tell Mary. When he tried out for Twisted Blue, he said “It seemed like the right fit for me, these guys are artists.” Matt likes to write his own music and that’s what Twisted Blue does. “In Twisted Blue, I’m able to express my creativity. We all have a chemistry that goes beyond music and we’ve all become real friends. We all like to hang out together and I think that can be felt through out songs.”

Tony Harris – Drums

When I was approximately 12-years-old, I started playing the guitar. But at the same time, I started beating on things. In fact, my parents said, “Stop tapping on things and making so much noise.” However, I couldn’t stop, so I told them I wanted to play the drums. My mom was supportive of my decision and bought me a set of drums from the Montgomery Ward catalog.

At the time, I was heavily influenced by Buddy Rich, a huge jazz, big band, and swing drummer popular in the 1940s-1980s. Other drummers who had an influence on my style were Gene Krupa – a jazz, swing, and Dixieland drummer during the 1940s-1970s, and the drummer from Led Zeppelin – John Bonham.

I started playing in bands around the age of 16 and have played in various bands ever since. In fact, I met Matt Thom approximately 20 years ago and have played with him off and on in various bands over the years. Then, in the late-spring or early-summer 2023, Matt approached me about joining Twisted Blue. I agreed to try out and have been a part of the Twisted Blue family from that day forward. We all get along great and it’s like we’ve been playing together forever.
